On Affirmations and Abundance
Ensure you have read the first part of this series. Again, it is the wrong question to ask, ‘Why are my affirmations not working?’ because affirmations are not a part of anything that can ‘work’. They are a tool, not energy. However, it is vital to ask the question. In fact, the moment we realise that affirmations are not ‘working’ is when we can choose either to wake up to greater awareness or to count all our learning as vanity. It is a crossroad for development or digression. Reading this is evidence you have chosen development. So, enough of our digression in this note. Let us turn now to further reasons why they are not working.
Trying to use affirmations to ‘get’ something or to ‘make’ God (the Universe, Nature, Mother, Spirit, Energy — whatever you call the Divine) do something for us is one of the greatest errors of humanity. Yet, this is how many people feel when they use affirmations. That is, rather than feel the liveliness and existence of what they affirm in themselves, they seek to feel that somewhere outside is someone who they can ‘affirm’ into doing something.
In one of the finest books that tell us the secrets of good living, The Science of Getting Rich by Wattle Wallace, he wrote, ‘You do not have to compel God to give you good things, any more than you have to use your will power to make the sun rise. You do not have to use your will power to conquer an unfriendly deity, or to make stubborn and rebellious forces do your bidding.’ Our second greatest error, aside not feeling that which we affirm (part one) is having the intention to ‘make God do it for us.’
How do you expect this God to do it for you whom you feel you must cajole? Could this God be Love? Do you not FEEL THE LIFE IN YOU, THE LIFE AROUND YOU? Is it not telling you a constant gospel: the Gospel of Eternal LOVE? Yes, even the reality which you so much want to compel God to change was given into your experience out of abundant love! Therefore, you need not try to change It, force it, even please it in any special way. The Divine in Us needs neither our ‘sacrifice nor burnt offerings’. Only our ego offers this to itself. We may as well put it aside now and carry on with obedience. Obedience is this: that we feel life abundant around us, and thereby allow abundance to flourish in our experience. Do you understand?
One more thing in this part. You do not have try to do away with this error. It was not yours to keep in the first place. This is an error you have acquired from here, the error another person has passed to you because they think God acts in their own certain way of behaviour. Indeed, you can tell by experience that to the degree where you feel God needs appeasement is the degree where you expect to be appeased by others. If in your reflection you find this to be true (that is, you find it to be true that you learned the principle of this error and applied it to your manifestation process), then you may let it go now. You have no obligation to keep it. Just be you and remember that the Divine Loves You.
